#4 The Fort brings its sexy back

Christopher De Venecia - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - As most clubs in the metro have a lifeline of about two to three years, Manila’s party-going set thought that maybe they had seen the light of day (not a good thing for nocturnes and party animals) and the last of “The Fort” when a brawl erupted for the nth time outside of Embassy/Encore, Manila’s top superclub, and with it, brought a citywide curfew to be imposed on the City of Taguig. It was a lights-on policy before three, an act that turned off a lot of Manila’s Dionysian set as they sought the dark beat in other establishments along Ortigas, Makati’s Jupiter Street, in and around Salcedo and Legaspi, and most recently, Pasay with the opening Resorts World Manila. Well, this cautionary tale (and not one to be taken lightly anymore) is a thing of the past, as 2012 saw The Fort enter into all sorts of resurrection. Sartorially, gastronomically, and (for lack of a better term), alcoholically, this year saw the likes of Rocket Room, Privé, Skye, Aracama, Imperial Bar, and Draft becoming must-stops on the everyman’s nightinerary, not to mention that its dossier of foodie establishments have expanded to include Wild Flour, Da.U.De, Cue, NoLiTa, and Beso, and G-Star Raw, Cotton-On, Titan, and Superdry for all your sartorial needs. Talk about bringing “sexy back.”
