Young Star

Going green

-

MANILA, Philippines - In celebration of De La Salle’s 100th year, JanSport releases the first-ever bag dedicated to the green patrons. JanSport takes part in significant experiences of its large followers, such as a memorable travel, the many firsts in school, and this time, a grand centennial celebration.

De La Salle has definitely grown as an institution and in its 100th year, its Office of Strategic Communications worked with JanSport in creating a design that would commemorate the momentous event. Abstract in concept, each element depicts the spirit of De La Salle. Evidently, stars dominate the design. “Signum Fidei” as they call it, illustrates their view on education as a gift, a way for innovation and transformation. Moreover, the explosion of stars describes the energy and dynamism of La Sallians.

“It also represents Lasallians’ willingness to be part of the different industries and levels of society.” says Luis De Vera, Art Director for DLSU’s Office for Strategic Communications.

“La Salle 1911-2011” can be seen on the front pocket of the bag, a proud headline of the institution’s years of success. St. La Salle’s silhouette is also a key element in this work. Seen on a logo on the side of the bag, it is a symbol of gratitude and respect for the individual who started it all.

An embodiment of fun and discovery, JanSport continues to be a staple favorite for generations of youth in many parts of the world. It was founded in 1967 in Seattle, Washington by three pioneers in the outdoor industry. Initially manufacturing and marketing world-class outdoor backpacks, the brand now offers technical outdoor gear, daypacks, travel gear and collegiate decorated apparel sold in various stores globally.

The limited edition JanSport De La Salle Centennial Bag is available through De La Salle University’s Office of Strategic Communication and at Bratpack Robinson’s Place Manila. The DLSU and JanSport collaboration support the One La Salle Scholarship Fund.
