Great expectations
MANILA, Philippines - Collaborations seem to capture the zeitgeist of fashion today, but sometimes the forces ally and operate for the cause of something bigger and suddenly fashion intersects with, and for, the greater good.
From designer duds making their way to high street brands (H&M, Topshop) to major retail chains (Macy’s, Target), collaborations seem to capture the zeitgeist of fashion today. As major luxury houses expand their horizons from celebrities and “it” girls to the fashion-hungry masses, it’s safe to say that the snobby middleman has been obliterated and praise the heavens! we’ve all got direct and cost-efficient access.
Local retail has its fair share of collabs, too. From Team Manila to Rajo Laurel, fashion’s consciousness is now all for team effort but sometimes the forces ally and operate for the cause of something bigger, and suddenly fashion intersects with and for the greater good.
For their latest collection, Greater Good Apparel has collaborated with Don Jaime Zobel, Ayala Corporation’s chairman and one of the most recognized Filipino artists of our time. Zobel’s new design will spearhead Greater Good’s new initiative the One for One, wherein every single purchase allows you to adopt three seedlings to be planted in endangered forest regions all over the country, in support of the Road to 2020 movement: Haribon Foundation’s pursuit of populating one million hectares of rainforest.
The One for One collection reflects Greater Good’s sensibilities down to a tee straightforward, minimalist and, as always, faithful to a greater cause.
