The origin issue

MANILA, Philippines - It’s instinctual to wonder where things have been, but the triumph always comes with knowing where they actually came from. Has the evolution versus creation debate ever stopped? And do we not hold Dina and Michael Lohan accountable (not entirely, of course) for Lindsay? Whether it’s scientific, genetic, or anthropologic, we’ve always been driven to define the etymology of the derivatives. That’s the thing with us: we never really stop until we identify the “pre-”s of things — prehistoric, pre-founding fathers or even pre-hipsteric — and thankfully, there are trends and words that don’t need to baffle us like the chicken and the egg.
