Iyengar Yoga teacher holds Manila workshops
MANILA, Philippines - Senior Iyengar Yoga teacher Rajvi Mehta will be holding a series of workshops for both beginner and more experienced students on March 24-28, at the Iyengar Yoga Center Manila (IYCM).
Iyengar yoga is the style of yoga originated by living yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar, which emphasizes proper alignment and precision in the execution of asanas or poses, as well as the conscientious study of breathwork or pranayama. Mehta has been studying directly under BKS Iyengar since 1979. She has also been teaching yoga for the Light on Yoga Research Trust in Mumbai since 1987, and is the editor of Yoga Rahasya, the quarterly publication of the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India, where BKS Iyengar lives and continues to share his knowledge today.
Mehta has taught yoga extensively in India and abroad, and has led the teaching at the National Iyengar Yoga Conventions in the UK and Europe. She has conducted workshops in Ireland, China, the US, Poland, Belgium, and the UK. This is an ideal opprtunity for beginner students to discover yoga, and more advanced practitioners to refine their practice with guidance in this disciplined and thorough style.
Basic classes, open to all, will be held on March 24-26, Wednesday to Friday, 12 noon to 2 pm, and March 27, Saturday, 11 am to 1 pm. Fee is P2,000/session or P7,000 for all four sessions. Advanced classes, open to practitioners with prior exposure to Iyengar yoga who can do independent shoulderstands and headstands, will be held March 24-26 at 6-9 pm, and March 28, Sunday, 10 am to 1 pm, followed by a restorative class at 3-6 pm. A pranayama class will be held March 27 at 3-5:30 pm. Fee is P3,000/session or P15,750 for all six sessions.
