MANILA, Philippines - This weekend, be sure to catch young heartthrob Felix Roco in Engkwentro, the film that made the country proud with two awards at the Venice Film Festival!
PLDT myDSL Watchpad myFlicks and SM Cinemas let you experience Engkwentro in High Definition from Dec. 11 to 13 exclusively at SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM North EDSA and SM Cebu.
Inspired by true events, Engkwentro follows the last 24 hours of Richard and Raymond, two teenage brothers on opposite sides of a gang war. In order to escape a city controlled by an iron-fisted mayor, they must first break away from the cycle of crime, meanwhile trying to run from the state’s murderous vigilantes.
With a career-making performance by young heartthrob Felix Roco, son of cinema legend Bembol Roco, and directed by 22-year-old Pepe Diokno, Engkwentro took home two awards at September’s Venice Film Festival — including the Premio Orizzonti for new trends in cinema and the $100,000 Lion of the Future Award for Best Debut Film.
Critics have called Engkwentro “bold and unforgettable,” and “the vision of a new generation.” Audiences are sure to respond to the film’s cutting-edge style that makes you feel like you’re actually inside the film. The experience is only complete when seen in High Definition.
