Star Trek to Star Wars, and now Star City
MANILA, Philippines - From avowed “Trekkies” to avid followers of the “Clone Wars,” Star City now beckons with an exciting new attraction for people of all ages, inspired by the two greatest sci-fi film series in contemporary cinema.
Lazer Blaster, recently unveiled at the country’s premier amusement park as a state-of-the-art laser tag arena, is a multi-level playing field that simulates combat and friendly fire amid a safe but visually stunning array of special effects lighting straight from the future.
Laser tag was first developed in the ‘80s as a result of the entry into the toy market of Star Trek electronic phaser guns, inspired by tactical training employed by the US Army utilizing infrared beams. And with the photon effects seen in George Lucas’ Star Wars blasting through the public consciousness for over two decades, laser tag arenas have mushroomed all over the world as a popular form of family-centered entertainment.
Unlike other combat arenas like paintball, nerf, or airsoft, Star City’s Lazer Blaster has a lot of unique elements. The entire maze is themed like the deep jungle, so players get that “Rambo” feeling while moving through it. A computerized tracking system controls the hand-held targeting devices, with infrared-sensitive targets worn by each player and integrated within the area in which the game is played. A combination of interesting lighting effects, props and theatrical painting make this a very enjoyable and interactive arena.
Group reservations for the use of Lazer Blaster are also accepted by Star City. For enquiries, call 68003496 or 833-4483.
