MANILA, Philippines - If orange was one of the predominant colors during Halloween, it was most likely so because of the pumpkin pails that the little tricksters carried around. But to orange-blooded Nicksters, the color orange meant celebrating the occasion at “Shocktober,” Nickelodeon’s spine-chillin’ Halloween bash held at the SM Mall of Asia’s Music Hall last Nov. 1.
Guests queued up early at the Shocktober gates clad in spooky, fun and creepy costumes. There were wand-toting fairies, wing-flapping angels, a bunch of superheroes looking cool in their spandex suits, movie-inspired characters like Edward Scissorhands and of course, blood-riddled monsters and white-faced ghosts!
Upon entry, guests were ushered in to a “shock”-ville of sorts starting from Graveyard Street where welcome treats awaited everyone. Kiddie games that kept tots busy and happy with coveted prizes included Touch the Ooze, You Lose, where steady hands battled it out to see who could move a metal ring across a spiraling ”ooze” wire without touching it.
Another popular game booth was the Avatar’s Floor of Four, where participants had to hop on tiles representing the elements summoned by a voice: water, fire, air and earth; and the game Jimmy Neutron’s Test Tube Transfer, where kids tested their laboratory skills by quickly and carefully transferring test tubes within a limited given time.
For those who needed their Halloween “shock therapy,” there was Shocktober’s The Clin-Nick, a haunted medical hub where creatures that roamed were not just the sick. Once an eerie head doctor sent the guests on their journey, there was no turning back. They encountered medical oddities including the scary characters in the nurse’s station, operating room, psychiatric ward, nursery, radiology room and that place where no one dared to go alone — the morgue. It was a screamfest as guests ran or slid down the morgue’s slippery slide to get out of the doomed Clin-Nick!
Adding to the thrill were photo walls where Nicksters had their pictures taken while sitting on a grisly electric chair or lying in a gruesome hospital bed. How’s that for a scary souvenir?
As Halloween is really about looking spooktacular, kids who donned their scariest and most creative costumes received awesome prizes from Nickelodeon and Toy Kingdom.
Nick fans were filled with excitement when they came face to face with wildly popular Nicktoons — boy genius Jimmy Neutron and everyone’s favorite epic action hero, Aang.
And what’s a Halloween bash without magic? Shocktober’s magic show awed the crowd who were amazed at the speed with which the talented magician performed trick after trick and introduced them to the wonderful world of illusion.
From start to finish, the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall was filled with excitement and energy as Nickelodeon staged a Halloween event like no other. Nicksters definitely got their spook on as they declared Halloween over with Nickelodeon’s Shocktober!
Nickelodeon’s Shocktober was presented by Toy Kingdom and co-sponsored by Nestle Koko Krunch, Enervon C Plus Syrup, Guess Kids, Refresh Juicy Jelly, Del Monte Pineapple, Chupa Chups and Ace Water Spa.
