MANILA, Philippines - Hundreds of streetdance enthusiasts were on the edge of their seats as they watched the jaw-dropping performances of college-level streetdance crews who battled it out in the last two elimination rounds of the Skechers Streetdance Battle Year 5 at the SM North EDSA Skydome last Oct. 17 and 18.
From close to 100 crews that signed up to compete in the elimination rounds, only 25 finalists were able to secure a much-coveted slot in the Final Battle of the Philippines’ biggest, toughest, and hottest streetdance competition. Ten high schools and 15 college crews will take he spotlight at the Araneta Coliseum for a chance to win the P100,000 grand prize and earn this year’s bragging rights as the country’s best streetdance crew!
The college crews who earned a ticket to the finals during the Oct. 11 college eliminations were De La Salle University’s La Salle Dance Company Street, UP Los Baños Wyre Underground, Ateneo de Manila Manila’s University’s Company of Ateneo Dancers, Lyceum of the Philippines’ Lyceum Spartans Dance Troupe, and UP Diliman’s UP Street Dance Club.
Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Calamba’s Letran Dance Crew, Technological Institute of the Philippines, Quezon City’s TIP Talents Guild, the Far Eastern University – FERN’s FEU FERN Crew, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila’s PLM Iskolars Dance Incorporated, and Far Eastern University’s FEU Dance Company were chosen as the next batch of college finalists in the Oct. 17 elimination round.
The last set of college crews headed for the Final Battle secured their slots last Oct. 18. These were the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa’s University Campus Style, University of Makati’s Funky Jazz Extreme, University of the East’s Extreme Squad, Assumption College’s The Assumption Dance Company, and the AMA Computer University’s AMA Dance Troupe.

The Skechers Streetdance Battle Year 5 is presented by Skechers in cooperation with ETC, Skechers Time, PunkRose by Skeches, and Shape-Ups from the Skechers Fitness Group.
