Band of brothers

-

MANILA, Philippines - AC/DC, Kings of Leon and Oasis are three great bands with something in common. Aside from the fact that these bands have siblings as members, they have rock ‘n’ roll running in their blood. Likewise, they are back with their new albums — “Black Ice” for AC/DC, “Only By The Night” for Kings of Leon, and “Dig Your Soul” for Oasis.

“Black Ice,” the first full-length studio album of all-new material from AC/DC since the release of “Stiff Upper Lip” in 2000, is the band’s debut recording for Columbia Records. Produced by Brendan O’Brien at the Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, BC, “Black Ice” premieres 15 new AC/DC compositions and performances including the album’s first single, Rock ‘N’ Roll Train. It debuted at No. 1 in 31 countries and is the No. 1 bestselling global band of 2008. Rolling Stone included “Black Ice” among the best albums of 2008.

Kings of Leon, the big winners of the recent Brit Awards is hitting it big with “Only By The Night” which is certified 5x platinum in the UK. It also earned them their first-ever Grammy nominations and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 and No. 1 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart, marking the highest debut and the largest single sales week for the band in the US. Their Grammy-winning track Sex on Fire was No. 1 at rock radio stations for eight consecutive weeks to date. The album was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tennessee and was produced by Angelo Petraglia, Jacquire King, and Kings of Leon.

The album is a bold and expansive sonic statement that will solidify Kings of Leon’s position as one of the most important international acts of 2008 and beyond. It follows rapidly in the footsteps of the band’s previous albums “Youth And Young Manhood,” “Aha Shake Heartbreak” and “Because of the Times,” which have quickly established them as one of the most prolific and acclaimed acts around. It also features the current hit Use Somebody which is certified No. 1 on local radio stations RX93.1, Magic 89.9 and 103.5 Max FM.

“Dig Out Your Soul” is first new Oasis music since last year’s Lord Don’t Slow Me Down, taken from the on the road film of the same name. The album sees Dave Sardy return to the producer’s chair following his work on their 2005 album “Don’t Believe The Truth.” Recorded at Abbey Road and mixed in Los Angeles, all four members once again contribute tracks, but the recording marks a new approach for the band.

AC/DC’s “Black Ice,” Kings of Leon’s “Only By The Night” and Oasis “Dig Out Your Soul” are now out in CDs at leading record stores under Sony BMG Music Entertainment.
