It's a cool, fit summer with Nestea

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s best collegiate beach volley teams battled it out for sand supremacy as Nestea Fit Beach Volley National Circuit ’09 kicked off its elimination rounds recently at the SM Mall of Asia Bay Area for the Luzon eliminations.

In the men’s final, Far Eastern University (FEU) defeated Letran while in the women’s division, Adamson University floored FEU.

The action-packed beach volley action will then move to Tagum Beach Volley Drome at Rotary Park for the Mindanao teams from March 26 to 28; and off to Parkmall Mandaue City, Cebu, for the Visayas teams.

The three Luzon teams headed to Boracay are FEU, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and San Beda College (Men’s Division), and Adamson University, FEU, and the University of the Cordilleras (Women’s Division).

Winners then earn the right to compete in the semifinal and championship rounds to be held in Boracay from May 6 to 9.

All teams that qualify for the Boracay games are already winners as they all get cash prizes. The champion teams will take home P100,000; second placers, P65,000 each; and third placers, P35,000 each.

“All games comply with the rules set by the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB),” notes Ronald Chuacokiang, Nestea brand activation assistant manager, during the launch of the Nestea Fit Beach Volley National Circuit ’09 at Bacolod Chicken Inasal in Greenhills, San Juan.

He was joined by Nestle marketing, promotions and events head Ruth Novales, Nestea Fit consumer marketing executive Sarah Rose Lim, and marketing, promotions, and events cluster head for beverages Carlos Vergara.

Hosted by DJ John Hendrix, the event was also graced by TV personality Rhian Ramos, Survivor Philippines sole survivor JC Tiuseco and his fellow castaways Jace Flores, Jr., Kiko Rustia, Kaye Alipio, Nikki Dacullo, Vern Domingo, and Rob Sy. These sizzling-hot celebrities will also be in Boracay to take on the Nestea Fit Challenge this summer.

Considered as summer’s most-awaited event, Nestea Fit Beach Volleyball National Circuit ’09 will also feature the launch of Nestea Fit, the first iced tea with L-Carnitine that cools you down while helping you look hot.

“Nestea Fit is the perfect drink to keep everyone fit, hot, and refreshed this summer,” adds Ronald.

The event is not just going to be purely beach volley. Fun and excitement are in store for beachcombers as 6cyclemind and Sandwich bring the house down with their popular ditties.

On March 28, purchase the limited-edition Nestea Fit sandos and sports bottle and enjoy a game of virtual beach volley or take part in hip-hop classes at the NCCC Mall in Davao City. Enjoy fashion shows and performances by local bands on April 18, at Parkmall in Mandaue City, Cebu.

Among the highlights of the Nestea Fit Beach Volley is the Heat Seeker contest. It’s an online search for summer hotties. If you think you have what it takes to be this season’s center of attraction, visit www.nestea.com.ph and you will be directed to the Nestea Fit Seeker Friendster page. The contest is open for guys and gals between 18 to 26 years old.

“Just upload a video explaining why you are hot and how you maintain your hotness,” explains Sarah Rose Lim, Nestea Fit consumer marketing executive.

Submission of entries will be from March 15 to April 18, at 11:59 p.m. Winners will be announced on April 27, 2009.

“Winners will enjoy an all-expense paid trip to Boracay with two of their friends to watch the final match,” adds Lim.

They will also get to co-host in the TV show Sam’s Quest, and receive P10,000 cash.

“These fit, fun, and fabulous activities are synonymous with Nestea summers,” enthuses Lim.
