Beginnings (and endings) on Warner Home Video
Two of the past decade’s most critically acclaimed TV series are now available on Warner Home Videos in handsome box-set editions this holiday season: the smart and funny teen series Veronica Mars (Season One) follows the brainy teen reporter exploits of the title character (played by Kristin Bell), a wisecracking Nancy Drew at her Neptune, California high school. The show Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Josh Wheadon described as “Best. Show. Ever.” now comes to your living room in a boxed-set edition of Season One now available locally on Warner Home Video. This is the season that startedcit all. Tired of Gossip Girl? Want something closer to Brick? This is one teen show with attitude that’s worth revisiting on the home screen. (Comes with Deleted Scenes, Extended Takes and Gag Reels.)
On the other side of the TV spectrum, there’s the final season of The Sopranos, HBO’s award-winning series starring James Gandolfini as a tough New Jersey crime boss who’s being hit from all sides. Released on DVD box set in two parts (The Sopranos 6.1 and The Sopranos 6.2), this engrossing, hard-hitting TV series left viewers puzzled by its enigmatic final scene. What happens next? Sopranos fans wanted to know. But it’s the usual wiseguy business that makes up Season Six that will keep viewers pulled in, again and again. Follow the ups and downs of Tony Soprano as his crew tries to make peace with Phil Leotardo, head of the New York crime syndicate, while trying to keep his wife (played by Edie Falco) and kids together in one, big, happy dysfunctional family. The best show of the decade? Or one big WTF ending? A hit’s a hit: at least The Sopranos went out with a bang. (Includes audio commentaries from cast members and behind-the-scenes documentaries on The Making of Cleaver and The Music of The Sopranos — must viewing.)
Both DVD sets available from Warner Home Video.
