Disturbia in Manila
Everyone trooped to the venue in comfortable outfits — it was an outdoor concert, after all — but nobody compromised on style: they came in cute high–cut sneakers and boots. They also carried messenger bags so they could dance and move freely. The ladies jazzed up their outfits with color by using hoodies, scarves or caps. They also wore minimal accessories for a fuss-free night.
Sunday night was a burst of energy at Bonifacio Global City. The back–to-back concert of Rihanna and Chris Brown, sponsored by Globe Platinum and MTV, was an event mecca for R&B fanatics with the seamless combination of street beats, dance and pop music. The four-hour standing-only event went by in a flash as the power duo dropped their hits and gave off vibrating, euphoric energy. Chris Brown showed his smooth and sexy moves, belting out favorites such as Forever and Run It, eliciting thunderous roars from the ladies. Rihanna, clad in her S&M bondage-inspired corset top, looked and performed as if she was in a music video. Rihanna’s Umbrella was obviously the most anticipated song of the night. The performance took an unexpected turn as Chris Brown sang together with Rihanna. This brought goose bumps and screams from the crowd — some 70,000 people out in a field on a usually sleepy Sunday night.
