About face
Remember the olden days when it was more than acceptable to come out in public with a mug that looked like a day-old ashtray? There was no choice! Back then (the cruel ‘80s), foundations were pink-based concoctions that came in light colors. Certainly they had Christie Brinkley in mind; not us.
Today there’s no excuse. Lancôme — one of the foremost brands when it comes to foundations — has created different formulas in an ever-extending range of colors to suit Asian skin. It also says goodbye to the cake factor and feels like a slip of second skin!
Here are great ways to keep your foundation real!
1. Store in cool dark place. Heat from the sun can dramatically change color and formula!
2. Apply liquid with fingers. The warmth from the fingers allows the liquid to melt into the face creating a natural finish. Smooth it out using a foundation brush. Sponges are okay but tend to take in too much product.
3. Apply concealer after. Concealers are meant to brighten the eye area discreetly so it’s a good idea to do it after your base is done.
4. Choose colors with a yellow undertone. They are the most natural shades for Asians.
5. It may sound old-fashioned, but always seal with a light dusting of powder.
