The sleek and stylish appearance of a mobile phone is the first thing that catches the attention of mobile fiends, but there’s more to it than just looking trendy. Samsung Innov8, the latest addition to the line-up of Samsung’s Infotainment phones, proves that form goes best with functionality. Samsung Mobile came up with a whole-day marathon, the “Samsung Innov8 Race,” to field-test the phone’s features and capabilities.
There were, fittingly, eight teams — Navigate, Mosaic, Symbian, Smile, Asphalt4, Panorama, Face, and WiFi — consisting of four members from the media, a celebrity, a Samsung dealer, and a Samsung Marshal. All the participants gathered at the Manila Peninsula Conservatory where they were introduced to their teammates and briefed about the phone. After a sumptuous breakfast, each team was given a Samsung Innov8 mobile phone and they were off to their first challenge.
1. Rajah Sulayman Park
From the Manila Peninsula, teams used the NavFone GPS of the Samsung Innov8 mobile phone to get to their first destination — the Rajah Sulayman Park — and look for the Samsung banners. Using the Panoramic shot function, teams took a panorama photo of their surroundings. They showed the photo to the Marshal stationed in the area for verification before they were sent a Bluetooth message containing their next task and destination.
2. Infinitif dance studio
At the Infinitif Dance Studio in Pio del Pilar, teams logged on to the Samsung Fun Club through WiFi and imitated a Wushu pose for this challenge. One member of the team captured the stance through Samsung Innov8’s Multi-shot. They need to send the best-captured photo of their teammate doing the challenge to the Marshal via Bluetooth. The Marshal replied with their next challenge in Pasig.
3. Power Up Silver City
In this stop, one member was asked to climb the wall and retrieve a flag found at the top while the other team members took a Sports Shot. They had to give the flag to the Marshal in exchange for a note from which they should be able to extract the text from by using the Smart Reader feature of Samsung Innov8 mobile phone. They sent this via Bluetooth to the Marshal and the race continued to Makati.
4. M’ Café
As soon as the teams arrived at M’ Café, the game master, Vince Hizon, gave them their micro SD card memory wherein a video was stored. Over lunch, they watched the video to discover their next challenge. The game master instructed them to keep all their SD cards for future use.
Teams then had to complete a mosaic photo using the Mosaic Shot function of the Samsung Innov8. With the fountain as their background, all team members had to be part of the mosaic photo, so they enlisted a passerby to take the photo. As always, teams had to send the photo to the Marshal stationed in the area via Bluetooth.
5. Philippine Army Headquarters
Through the rain, two members posed for a photo with the National Heroes gate in the background. The other team steadied their hands to take their picture using the Frame shot. The member who was not included in the Frame shot then had to have his photo taken using the Smile Shot feature with the same background. They sent both photos to the Marshal through Bluetooth before the next clue to the next destination was sent to their team.
6. Samsung Concept shop in Glorietta
This challenge required the teams to connect the Samsung Innov8 phone to a Samsung LCD TV and play one game of Asphalt4 while they had their photos from the previous stops printed. They surely enjoyed the interactive and cinematic gaming experience. After doing all this, they were given instructions on the next destination.
7. McKinley Hill
When teams arrived at McKinley Hill, they looked around searching for the Samsung Innov8 streamers which indicated their next challenge. One team member balanced him or herself on a long skateboard and plunged downhill for eight seconds while another team member took a video of the whole ride. Teams then had to copy the video to the game Marshal’s Samsung Innov8 phone by transferring the file through their SD cards. The game Marshal then sent the instructions for their final destination.
8. Blue Leaf Events Pavillion Hall
Their final task was to search for their designated frames around the venue and arrange their printed photos in chronological order. After submitting this to the marshal, the winning team was finally determined.
The Samsung Innov8 race proved the power of the Samsung Innov8 mobile phone. Its various features truly provided the ultimate multimedia experience.
