Shock to the future
Halloween’s over, but there’s still lots of fright material for horror and sci-fi video fans to check out. From Warner Home Video comes a “reimagining” of the seminal ‘80s teen vampire flick The Lost Boys. The Lost Boys: The Tribe stars Angus Sutherland (brother of original star Kiefer) and that perennial Brat Packer, Corey Feldman, in a special “uncut version” that resurrects his vampire hunter character Edgar Frog. Things are still freaky in Luna Bay, where a surfer and his sister have moved in and a gang of thrill-seeking vampires are tearing up the surf and the town.
On a more cerebral tip, the TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Complete First Season) delves deeper into the classic James Cameron sci-fi trilogy with 300 star Lena Headey as “the mother of all destiny,” Sarah Connor, who must train her son to fight the onslaught of alien machines that plan to enslave the human race. The man-vs.-machine theme gets a reboot (with lots of extra features) as the story shifts to the present day, chronicling Sarah and her son’s efforts to control a future only they can glimpse.
Both DVD releases are available through Warner Home Videos.
