Ivar Aseron's fine lines
Master of minimalism Ivarluski Aseron’s 25-piece collection for Fashion Watch last Nov. 11 was yet another impressive glimpse into his genius for tailoring and his imagination. The slim silhouettes, clean lines and unexpected details kept the pieces interesting, despite the sparse palette of white, gray and moss green. Dresses in creamy Mikado silk were decorated with a shimmery black fabric as accent. Accordion collars grazed the necklines of halter dresses. Cutout details served as a quirky addition to simple shift dresses. The choice of the twill-like moss-green fabric to break the neutral shades was a fresh take that blended in perfectly. What’s special about Ivar’s work is the mix of stiff, architectural lines with a feminine silhouette. It doesn’t come out as hard-edged but instead wraps the female form in a seductive, almost dominatrix way. Little details like hidden front zippers keep the lines neat, and almost invisible nips and tucks appear when closely scrutinized, leaving one in awe over the brilliant construction. Special attention was also given to footwear, with the wonderful patent platform sandals and booties completing the look, once again proving that restraint in design produces amazing results.
