Bliss in black

Everyone trooped to A.Venue for Folded &Hung’s celebration. Wearing black outfits, they all looked effortlessly chic. The LBD was an obvious choice but given a certain twist such as to-die-for shoes and clutches. Ladies accessorized their outfits with scarves, bangles and funky belts while the gents wore chains, belts, boots and carried man bags. Certain splashes of metallic color and fabric gave an added oomph.

Folded & Hung celebrated their 10th anniversary by once again paying tribute to street style with “Streetcast Act 2,” a showcase of the clothing brand’s holiday 2008 street collection that, in a reversal of tradition, brought the streets to the catwalk. The show presented the practical and urban aspects of street style with the richness and flair of party-appropriate ensembles. Taking inspiration from the renaissance era, the holiday collection is romantically somber in blues, browns and blacks, but gets a festive punch from crystal embroidery and shiny, metallic fabrics.

In embracing the stylish street spirit, Folded & Hung ups the ante by presenting its latest collection using a hundred style-savvy civilians instead of models. They were chosen out of the big crowds who attended Folded & Hung’s go-sees; these non-model fashion mavens were selected for their individuality, their panache and their ability to represent reality-based beauty. “Streetcast Act 2” was a celebration of urban fashion in high-theatrical experience.
