Spend a “Mad Lab Weekend” on Oct. 24 and 25 at Star City, CCP Complex, Roxas Blvd., Pasay City.
Members of Cosplay.ph will conduct hands-on workshops on how to use low-cost materials to create costumes.
Mark Cerezo, an expert in making props and rubber costumes, will conduct an intergalactic weapon-making workshop for children 15 years and below. Cerezo won in Cosplay (costume role-playing) at this year’s Toys and Collectibles Convention and at the 2008 World Cyber Games.
Guy Singzon, the man behind the Mandarin Spawn and female predator costumes, will teach participants how to create costumes from ordinary household materials. Starter packs for the workshops will be available onsite. Only 100 workshop participants will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.
There will also be a parade of extraterrestrial creatures and robots at the theme park.
On Oct. 31, Star City puts the spotlight on Filipino folklore and mythology through “Ang Mahiwagang Daigdig ng nga Duwende, Lamanlupa, Atbp.” Park visitors are encouraged to come in costumes inspired by Filipino oral or written literature, local fables or legends. Exciting prizes await winners.
Mask-making is the featured activity on Nov. 1. Participants will be provided with materials such as white masks, scrap cloths, paste gems, etc.
Star City celebrates Halloween with the Build-Your-Own Monster contest on Nov. 2. Special prizes await winners.
