“Y4iT” – The 6th Philippine Youth Congress in Information Technology

-

The biggest IT event of every year since it began, the 6th Philippine Youth Congress in Information Technology, more popularly known as “Y4iT,” will be held on September 2-5, 2008 at the University of the Philippines Diliman campus, expecting no less than 18,000 participants.

Since 2003, the University of the Philippines Information Technology Training Center (UP ITTC) brings together students, faculty, IT practitioners and enthusiasts, government officials, national leaders, and prominent IT personalities from many parts of the country to discuss and share knowledge about recent trends in IT.

Y4iT provides a venue for experiencing activities and witnessing talks that cover IT and IT-related topics, thus developing awareness and honing global competitiveness among IT practitioners and enthusiasts. It has established itself as not just any annual IT convention, but as a brand that every college student recognizes.

“The 2008 edition of Y4iT will be bigger and better than ever before,” said Dr. Jaime D.L. Caro, UP ITTC Program Director. “We’re bringing it back to the UP Theatre, UP Film Center, and UP Bahay ng Alumni. We expect more speakers from a wider range of specialization areas in IT.”

“Y4iT is UP ITTC’s contribution to the university’s centennial celebration,” he concluded.
