Experience the divine at Microtel Boracay
We know it feels weird reading something about Boracay in the middle of the rainy season. Then again, great things about the island should never be time-bound. Once you know the latest about Boracay, you will get that anticipation within, knowing that there is something new and exciting to look forward to when you reach the island.
Just recently, we spent a fair amount of time in Boracay, eager to see and experience its newest offerings. Within that frame, we visited Microtel Inn & Suites Boracay and found, to our delight, that there is more to its gorgeous Diniwid beachfront than meets the sun-kissed eye.
Found at Station 1, Microtel Boracay is tucked in a quiet corner of the island. If you are the type who simply wants to kick back without wanting to hear loud music (and equally loud revelers), then you have come to the right place. With 51 rooms to choose from — 41 double rooms and 10 suites — Microtel promises to provide more than just a place to sleep in.
“Microtel Boracay will also be known for its great food,” vows Microtel vice president Teddy Lim. “We now have an excellent concessionaire in Mama’s Fish House which adheres to the standard of excellence that Microtel lives by.”
Resident manager Wilfrido Santos says, “We want to bring the total experience to our guests, and what better way to do that than through the stomach?”
The new and improved menu boasts of dishes that speak of summer, refreshing as they are in a beach setting. From the cold appetizers, we tried the bruschetta, which consists of chopped tomatoes, basil, and olive oil on freshly baked baguette, and it was absolutely delightful.
The restaurant, which faces the swimming pool and the bar, also offers sandwiches, salads, soups, and pasta, among others. The house specialty, Mama’s Fish House burrito, was an instant hit when first served in the premises. It is marinated fish fillet with lettuce and tomatoes in rolled freshly made pita bread, generously finished off with mango salsa.
“The friendly service is consistent with Microtel’s. We simply want to provide guests with the warm, efficient service that Microtel has been known,” Lim says.
Roy Martin, Microtel director for sales, adds, “When you experience this kind of service in Microtel, you will look forward to it every time you come here.”
Microtel Boracay sports a Mediterranean-inspired design, a tropical island look that is new to a Microtel property. The design extends indoors, with a lobby that reminds one of those whitewashed stone houses in that part of the world. They chorus that this and more embody Microtel’s world-class quality.
“In all aspects, we are very particular with what we give to our guests. We never second-guess them. Even the ways we fold our bedspreads and sanitize the bathroom have become art forms in themselves. The staff members have been trained to be consistent and meticulous about these things,” Lim declares. “This is what sets us apart: the consistent adherence to quality wherever you may be. This is the same great hotel everywhere you go.”
As if these are not enough to leave guests swimming in bliss, the pool itself is something else. It does not use chlorine, for starters. Microtel Boracay has its own ionizer and sewage treatment plant, as well as a solar-powered water heater.
All these niceties make quite a combination with Microtel’s perennial offerings, among them the chiropractic-approved, back-friendly beds which, we kid you not, will take you to la-la land in no time.
But try going out in the daylight like we did, basking in the hottest of after-summer suns. Later, the perfect reward would come in the form of great conversations over food at the diner, quick laps on the pool, a few drinks at the bar while listening to windswept chill-out music, or simply retiring back to the room not worrying about what tomorrow will bring. We did all these here, and the experience was nothing short of divine.
