Most of the time, when an invitation falls on my lap, I make sure to check the preferred attire for the event. As an invited guest, it is a respectful gesture to follow and dress up for the occasion.
The preparation for an event is as tedious and hair-raising an experience as the actual occasion. The months of preparation — from the theme development, to picking the right date and venue, and to making sure the ”right” guests show up — are vital details. Proper planning and lots of Absolut Apeach martinis are big-time musts in achieving a mad shindig to remember. The pre-party tension is more than “having butterflies”; it feels like crows scratching your belly minus the ticklish sensation.
Dressing up properly for the occasion is my way of appreciating the emotional roller coaster the host is going through and showing the host that I value the celebration. Speaking of celebrations, it was a show of love and appreciation for Raymund Isaac and Facial Care Centre, which celebrated its 25th anniversary with a photo exhibit at the Ayala Museum, when guests flocked to the event wearing glamorous cocktail outfits and shining their way all throughout the night.
Amina Alunan
Amina’s style is extra feminine because facial care is all about celebrating femininity. She wears a pink tiered dress from Laundry by Shelli Segal with a Whiting & Davis clutch and chandelier earrings.
Joey Mead
Joey creates her own version of a “Bettie Page home page.” She wears a black dress, which she got on sale for only $18, with chili red patent heels from Zara. Her accessories include a gold snake armlet, red nails and a Juicy Couture clutch, which she likes because it has a big “J” on it. Joey is Raymund’s favorite rebel model and she always feels playful and at home when shooting with him.
Maureen Disini
Maureen wears a gown she bought off the rack in Greenbelt. She likes to wear eye-popping purple hues to stand out amid a sea of celebrities. Maureen teams this up with silver button earrings, a Fendi Pyramid evening watch and Giuseppe Zanotti stilettos for a look that is purely polished.
NJ Torres
NJ wears a dress by Ronaldo Arnaldo with ice crystal earrings designed by Tweetie de Leon. Her look for the evening is romantic and glamorous.
Marie Lozano
Marie wears a lace dress from Elie Tahari with simple accessories, black stilettos and a little black purse. Her look is very relaxed and comfortable.
Sari Yap
Sari wears a Banana Republic stretch cotton shirt with a vintage sequined tulle skirt. Her accessories are a brown beaded clutch and custom-made John Kenner slip-on wedgeswith rhinestones. Her look is inspired by the glamorous and feminine ‘50s.
Andrea de Guzman
Andrea wears a dress from Doll Town. She steps into gray cone heels and swings a shoulder bag from Prada for a look that's very now.
