The Mod look has been exploding since summer. Suddenly, everyone lopped off their hair, sported waifish cuts and doubled up on the eyeliner for that "I havent slept in four days, and its not because of work look." Then Sienna Miller was cast as the unfortunate but fabulous Edie Sedgwick, and suddenly: pop goes the weasel. Is it just me? Or is she really gross?
Anyway, it doesnt matter if the trend exploded (literally, okay) because of an actress, who annoyingly keeps on playing the same roles; it is a universally flattering look. Its hardly trendy, as it does not encourage too much drama. As its name suggests, Mod will always be a slick and modern look for women everywhere. Who wouldnt look good with neatly scraped hair, a luminous complexion, vampy raccoon eyes and a hint of lip gloss?
This is, after all, a fashion idea that is not meant to be taken literally, of course. Because if you did, Mod rats back in the 60s used frosted makeup in neon colors, something that will always be unflattering even to the most dewy-eyed 20 year old. Its like granny panties or Crocs. So its a modern take on a legendary idea.
