Underground escapades
October 6, 2006 | 12:00am
A jolting thrill accompanied by goose bumps overwhelms me upon stepping into the foggy hallway led by green laser light. The AF Pasig Cold Plant was the perfect venue to simulate the San Francisco underground rave in Groove, a Sundance Festival hit and Sony Movie Classic for which the party was themed. A multitude of vibrant winter-clad people stomped with their boots and sneakers as spine-tingling beats spewed forth during DJ Polywogs blizzard-blasting set.
Polywog enthusiastically adheres to a Gelassenheit philosophy of "letting-be." She marvels at the fullness of life, translates it into music that does not ostracize anyone, anything or any place. Even the snowy air in the dark hallways, the crystallized icicles, and the spellbinding choreography of laser light, the VIP-whitewashed walls shared the same captivation of the dancing audience caressed by mist.
It was an eye-popping party extraordinarily launched by Soundsgood, produced by Rafael Puno, spearheaded by Soundsgood managing director Edge Pamute and Soundsgood project head DJ Anthony Nabaza, who earlier on dizzied up the crowd with bouncy house music while fronting for Polywog.
Catch Soundsgood clubnights: Rouge Thursdays at M Café, Lounge-O-Rama Saturdays at Embassy Cuisine and upcoming Putomayo Saturdays at Nuvo. Visit www.soundsrealgood.com.
