YStyle asked six fashion stylists to take part in a shopping challenge that would show just how much SM is brimming with style possibilities. Working with the theme "urbaniSM", each stylist, and his/her team composed of a model and a makeup artist, were asked to each come up with one look for the day and another for the evening. To make the challenge more interesting, we slapped on a budget: P3,000 for both outfits.
What these teams came up with is an implosion of creative energy and style savvy. And since we are not wanting to choose who comes up as the winner, we leave it to you, our readers, to judge which team deserves to win the YStyle and SM Shopping Challenge and to judge if SM does have everything your pretty little fashionista heart desires.

How do the clothes portray "urbaniSM"? It is urbanism because, in my definition, urbanism is fresh, slick, city fashion that touches novel silhouettes with an air of minimalism and old-world charm.
Describe your day look: My day look is a melange of grunge and boho. An otherwise retro print dress is updated for fall 06 by layering a black knit long-sleeved top beneath the kitschy, yet folksy, dress.
Describe your night look: My night look is a lavish silhouette: a dark bishop-sleeved top paired with the meanest and leanest black cut-offs. Architectural shapes, for me, define the new urbanism.

How do your clothes portray "urbaniSM"? Our looks were mainly influenced by Japanese urban fashion. We wanted to think out-of-the-box as the only team with a male model we added elements from the ladies department such as skinny jeans, skinny belts. There are no rules in mixing and matching.
Describe your day look: Very geometric. There are a lot of clean straight lines, but these are worn informally.

How do the clothes portray "urbaniSM?" Urbanism is being in tune with the metro and moving with the citys pulsing rhythm. Its modern, progressive and kinetic clothes for everyday wear that are both stylish and functional. As an extension of oneself, clothes set the mood and express your individuality.
Describe your day look: Whether in the office or navigating through the urban jungle, youre sure to look sharp and chic in this hip ensemble. Its functional because it can go from day to night by removing either the back off the shoulder top (which can also be made into a cowl-neck blouse) or removing the white blouse with tie.
Describe your night look?
The look was inspired by Grace Jones circa 1985 when leggings were solidified as the eras fashion staple. For the past few seasons, it has constantly been seen on the gams of stylish women. The cinched waist and voluminous top is a perfect balance of power and sensual femininity.

We also wanted to say that not all the clothes you see in magazines are expensive there are actually cheaper alternatives in department stores.
