Three cheers for the total woman

MEANWHILE - MEANWHILE By Michelle Katigbak -
Last Tuesday, Embassy Club at The Fort was filled to the brim with an incredible array of men and women as the country’s first local fitness magazine for women, TW, launched its very first issue in a unique celebration of firsts.

Orchestrated by Manila’s main events man GP Reyes, the launch of the country’s premier fitness magazine for the total woman centered on the theme of "favorite firsts." As they entered the venue, signs posted up read "What was your first job?," "Remember your first kiss?" and "Recall your first car?" among others. As guests enjoyed hordeovers and cosmopolitans, a slideshow presentation was splashed on the big screen showcasing the women of TW while everyone mingled and waited for the presentation to begin.

The show, which began around nine, showcased some of the country’s top firsts. A fashion show of ubiquitous fitness brand Adidas and clothes from the country’s hottest young designers, Ino Caluza, Kate Torralba, and Dita Sandico Ong were sashayed down the runway by the models to match the theme segments of Fit, Fashionable, and In Control. A Filipina Total Woman was honored after each segment. For the Fit segment, the country’s badminton pride and the first woman to be invited to the world championships, Kennie Asuncion, worked the runway to the delight of the crowd. For Fashionable makeup goddess Xeng Zulueta, the first Filipina to be accredited by renowned makeup master Shu Uemura, strutted her stuff. And finally, for In Control, the undisputed women of the night, the girls from the first Philippine Mt. Everest Team worked the catwalk to thunderous applause.

Following the show, while the crowd danced to gorgeous female house DJ Mau Torres, a raffle was held by hosts JM Rodriguez, Nash Benitez, and George Rocha giving away great prizes like Sonia Rykiel eyewear and gift certificates to Mabuhay Spa. And finally, to cap off the presentation, editor in chief Chinggay Andrada presented the awards for the Total Man and Total Woman of the Night. Total Man went to Patrick Tantoco who won a one-year free membership to Red Corner Makati and Libis and P5,000 worth of gift certificates for Adidas products. Total Woman, on the other hand, went to Naomi Alleje who went home with an overnight stay at Richmonde Hotel, an Urban Spa package, and a one-year membership to Red Corner Makati and Libis.

As the show ended, copies of TW were passed around among the crowd and guests leafed through the country’s hottest new fitness magazine published by TFW Media.

The TW launch was sponsored by Gen Knit Dole, Blue Angel Alcohol, The Finnix Corporation, Diesel Eyewear, Red Corner, Rustans, Chamba Juice, and Adidas.
