In god we trance!

CIRCUIT TRAINING - JR Isaac -
Rave parties never cease to amuse me. Last Saturday, the metro was again treated to another world class rave party. Organized by Big Fish, who consistently brings international DJs to our shores, invited the master of trance music DJ James "00" Fleming. Big Fish transformed the tent into a temple of release. Manila’s pilgrims of pleasure braved the weekend night rain to pay homage to trance music. The solid followers of Big Fish patiently lined up as floodlights illuminated the sky. As I entered the tent, the daunting DJ altar played music building up the feel of the night. Silver multi-pointed stars adorned the ceilings and the play of lights made us know what was cooking at Godskitchen. The adoration began with the eclectic tunes of DJ TC that served as an appetizer. Just before the strike of one, the hungry crowds screamed and raised their fists as James "00" Fleming hit his first beat. The apparition of James""00" Fleming transformed the whole room into a place for DJ worship.

The multi-sensory experience made me a candidate for ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). There was so much happening in every corner. Focusing on how everyone behaved, danced, mingled and dressed up was a challenge for me. My undependable gaydar was at its lowest point. I was almost slapped by Anna Ong for being dense and not noticing how attractive her companion was. In fact, I was accused of being rude by ignoring Anna’s friend. To tell you the truth, I did notice her attractive companion but, not being aware that he was gay, I was not bold enough and or stupid enough to come on to him. The sad part of this tale was Anna’s revelation that the interest was mutual. I lost the opportunity to make my night heavenly! This made me ponder what really happened at Godskitchen.

BEA LOCSIN

How do you normally find out about parties in Manila?

My friends are the ones who usually inform and invite me to some of the parties in town. Other than that, there are flyers, text invites and the Circuit Training Events schedule in The STAR.

CHICHO SUAREZ

Where did you stay most of the night?

I stayed at the elevated VIP area with my friends where we all had a breathtaking view of the festive grounds.

TALS DIAZ

For a rave party is it alright to hold a martini cocktail?

I think you can hold absolutely anything you want because at a certain point in the night you can be holding a cocktail glass with a Tarsier stuck on it and people won’t even notice. The original raves celebrated different people coming together to let go for a night, so anything goes when it comes to your choice of poison.

ANNA CRUZ

How did you enjoy the party and what time did you leave?

I had too much fun! Haven’t been out in a while and the elevated VIP area was a great idea. I left the party at 4 in the morning.

EMMA POLICARPIO

Would you say "yes" to your date’s proposal to be his girlfriend at a rave party?

No way! I don’t think a rave party is the right place. It is not romantic. I want it to be in a more secluded place, conducive for intimacy since I want it to be a memorable for us.

FAITH LAVARRO

What music will make you dance on the podium?

I love sexy music! If it is R&B, I will dance all night on the podium for sure! Other music styles like sexy house, break beats and Latin sounds are also hot. That is sure to get me going.

ANA VILLALON

Would you meet your blind date at a rave party and why?

I would not meet my blind date at a rave. It would be very hard trying to get to know the person. Conversation would just be drowned by the loud music.

MAI CASTRO

Who did you go with at the party?

I went with my partner in crime and confidante because I wanted to let my hair down, enjoy the music and have a blast without being judged.

MARIE CAPISTRANO

How would you describe John "00" Fleming’s music selection?

As John "00" Fleming walked on stage, I heard a hush come upon thousands of screaming and dancing fans. The beat of heavy bass began to unleash the fury. I remember seeing fists being thrown in the air in beat with the bass. I couldn’t do anything but dive into the music and let John Fleming take me on the journey of his music. For me, his music tells a story. It’s music that makes your body move. His style is classic, keeping the heavy bass mixed with awesome synthesizer beats it.

NIKKI ESPINOSA

What would you wear for a rave party?

It has to be something comfortable and outstanding because people never forget who stands out from the crowd.

ANNA ONG

How did you prepare for Gods Kitchen?

With a couple glasses of scotch sodas, my "get lucky" jeans, my fabulous earrings, my dancing shoes and my gorgeous gay boyfriend!

JAKE MACAPAGAL

How would you describe the vibe and why?

The vibe was good and everybody was in the right mood to dance wildly. However the Birmingham DJ, reminiscent of trance-techno, was not my beat. That kind of music would be great after 5 a.m. rather than eariler in the evening.

ED YAN

How will describe the club scene in Manila?

The energy of the club scene in Manila is equal to New York, London and, my home, Sydney. The music and the crowd give off a really fun and friendly vibe! What more can I ask for here in Manila?

MICO MENDOZA

How long have you been dancing at the party?

Wow, about four hours of dancing! I couldn’t have done it without the help of Red Bull!

KAT RODRIGUEZ

How often do you party with your brother?

My brother actor JM Rodriguez and I are very close. We make it a point to have dinner out once a week and since he’s generous, he never lets me pay. We usually go for drinks at a bar or a club to meet friends afterwards.

LAWRENCE VILLEGAS

What do you bring at rave party?

I bring lots of Marlboro lights and my trusty lighter. Plus you will never know who you can meet by sharing a light or a cigarette.
