All that glitters is not gold

Fantasy has been the soul of fashion. Never has it played on the soggiest of its dreams than in "Runway Rocks: Trends and Themes," the Swarovski fashion extravaganza. With threads from designers all over Asia such as Michelle N. and Resham Melwani from Singapore, Didi Budiarjo, Milo, Sebastian from Indonesia, Eric Choong, Kirana and Rizalman Ibrahim from Malaysia and our very own Jojie Lloren, Patrice Ramos-Diaz and Joey Samson, the runway literally rocked with Swarovski-encrusted frocks and faces.
Jojie Lloren presented the Hitchock princess his way as he cleverly infused the dainty frocks with his signature of sexy restraint. He used Swarovski crystals to play on the charm of the feminine silhouette, whether it be encrusting the bodice or dangling like spring rain on the hems of dresses. The ethreal response of Patrice Ramos-Diaz played with primal textures and the natural grace of the great outdoors. She played with light by placing the crystals around her confections, letting them sparkle with whimsy. Joey Samson, loved for his Edwardian details pinned to the most modern of shapes, pushed the envelope further with haute athletica, cracking the silence of the night with flashes of Swarovski.
The stunning looks were done by Shu Uemuras Wizard of Oz, Xeng Zulueta and hair by tresspert Toni and Guys Nelson Buenaventura. Xeng and Nelson's collaborated on four looks that resonated the dreamy stylings of glam rock. Starburst consisted of slick and glossy looks slashed with aqua and pink. Hair was pinned in the same manner as in the Rochas runway for this season. Glitter took inspiration from masquarade masks that sparkled with, yes you guessed it, gorgeous chips of glitter. To add to the glitz, Nelson sculpted the hair into a dramatic pompadour style. Color Blocks was a play of fantastic color with the inspiration coming straight out of the tie-dyed effects of fabrics. Braided hair completed this disco hippie look. If you remeber and adore the Ziggy Stardust persona of David Bowie then you will be buckling your knees with the Graphic look done by Xeng and Nelson in which they played with the shape and color.
The grand fete was fruit rolled by creative genuises Michael Salientes, Yodel Pe and Melvin Mojica. Its time to rock and roll out the Swarovskis.
