February 12, 2003 | 12:00am
We see her everywhere record bars, newsstands, TV, and even on the silver screen. There’s no doubt about it, Mandy Moore is today’s hottest pop star. Now part of the most sought-after fashion campaign in town, Mandy Moore reaches out to the Philippine market further by lending her sweet smile to the hip brand Penshoppe.
The teenage pop diva and Hollywood star’s success is, indeed, phenomenal. In a short span of time, she was able to capture hearts with her confident yet wholesome attitude. Her chart-topping debut album So Real made a mark in the pop music bandwagon and paved way for a couple more records; I Wanna Be With You and Mandy Moore. Her third album, which departed from the pop formula, didn’t get much recognition but that didn’t stop the public’s craving for Moore. One can fairly admit that she was just too hot to put a lid on. She then tried her luck on the silver screen with her first starring role in A Walk to Remember with teen heartthrob Shane West, and turned out to be a box office hit which earned her more film projects. First to come out this year is her new film Try Seventeen, her second serving in motion picture, costarring Lord of the Rings’ Elijah Wood. It will then be followed by How To Deal, together with veteran actors Peter Gallagher and Allison Janney. And just recently she just took off to Vancouver to finish Saved, yet another film produced by Michael Stipe of R.E.M. (producer of Being John Malcovich). Co-starring with Mandy is the long lost child actor Macaulay Culkin. Quite a hectic time Mandy Moore may be having but is surely enjoying the attention and the opportunity that she’s getting. Being paired with all these veterans just proves that her acting prowess is very much appreciated in Hollywood, and that only means that people are going to be seeing a lot of her in the coming years. She plans to get back to her music roots by the end of the year to record a follow up to her self-titled album.
Mandy Moore has gone through a lot and has very much proven something in the entertainment industry. She has earned the admiration of many, from the hearts of teenagers who look up to her including the rest of the adult colony who watch her every move. Her feat proves that she has definitely reached stardom but still manages to keep her feet on the ground and just be the girl she used to be before she sky-rocketed to fame. With various dishes on her menu lined up this year people have absolutely enough to satisfy their appetite for Moore.
