She has no problems being watched and scrutinized at all. "It can be very difficult at times to have a personal life because you would have to be discreet. But as long as I am not doing anything bad in my private life, I find that there is nothing really wrong about being in the public eye." And really, her sweet and infectious innocence and youthfulness belays any suspicions that she could do anything bad.
In fact, she is enjoying the attention at the moment. "It is funny being televised, actually. But it is also great; I feel sort of independent because I am making my own money and so I can buy what I want without having to wait for my allowance. And the guys treat you better," she finishes with a giggle.
On the subject of guys, Heart comes off as very casual. She isn't really waiting for it because she is enjoying being single and working. At the same time, she is an obedient daughter to her supportive parents. She isn't really allowed to go out and her dad won't let her have a boyfriend. But she knows exactly what kind of guy she would like to be with: "A gentleman; someone funny and humble and sweet. I don't like mayabang guys and I don't like them loud." She doesn't like boys always trying to impress her.
But it comes with the territory and Heart knew what she was getting into. She knew she wanted to be on television since she was a little kid. She was into ice skating at then, and when she saw the film "Cutting Edge" she thought, "Wouldn't it be great to be on TV?" And not only is she on the boob tube, she's a rising star. But she's also got her sights on a possible recording contract and hopes to cut an album. "I'd like to make an album like Mandy Moore's. I am still young after all and I would like to interpret songs that I can relate to as a teenager." But her musical taste varies as she also states that she likes the band The Calling. But she's sure that she would never try to use her beauty as an edge for certain success. "I wouldn't want to do sexy roles," she states confidently. She wants to be herself.
In fact, that was the sweetest e-mail a fan ever sent to her. A total stranger had e-mailed her that she should never get hurt from some untrue criticisms she sometimes gets. She should be proud that she doesn't have to put on an act and that she should stay true to herself. All this from a complete stranger! "It was so sweet," she says.
And what exactly would people say about pretty little Heart that would turn her smile upside down? "People think I'm maarte because I like to dress up and I speak English all the time. I think that is unfair," she mentions. "I guess I am maarte but in a good way," she declares quickly. Nevertheless, she is sensitive enough to cry whenever she gets wind of her detractors saying so. "They don't even really know me." But it comes with the territory and Heart is ready for it.
As for thinking of showbiz for the long-haul, Heart tends to lean towards a tried and true reply: "I'll stay in the business for as long as the people want me." Being realistic in the possibility of her career in front of that proverbial camera may not last as long as she might hope, she'd be interested in something related to hotels or restaurants.
All factsâ€â€trivial or otherwiseâ€â€about Heart aside, what you see is really what you get with her. The sweetness, the innocence, the vibrant youthful energy is all that she is. And honestly, if you don't love her for it, you're probably just jealous.
