Globe's great vibe, Smart's super scene

It wasn’t just another massive dance party when young Manila was treated to a festival of music and magic via NBK and Globe GenTXT’s Club Renaissance World Tour 2002 with world-renowned DJ Anthony Pappa.

Breaking barriers and trend-setting are what GenTXT is all about. With that, the Manila Polo Club main lounge was transformed by the ABG’s crew of Erich Edralin into a carnival of neon greens and hot pinks, as chandeliers were draped and candles were set up by the DJ’s booth, giving the place a neo-gothic meets high school prom kind of feel. GenTXT members were given free entry for the event, one of the most awaited to the year since the last time NBK brought the UK superclub to Manila.

NBK resident DJ Manolet Dario opened the night with his upbeat tempo of house tunes as guests — clubbing scenesters, industry insiders and the hip, the young, and the beautiful set filled up the halls of the dance venue. Globe stickers were the hip accessory for the night. Everybody had that "G" in them — great vibe and good clean fun. Prime GenTXT member, MTV veejay Donita Rose was among the first to groove on the dancefloor with GenTXT main man Em Lingao and other Globe gang mates.

When Pappa’s set ended, everybody wanted more. Before sunrise, everyone headed over to party place Pravda, where the revelry continued. NBK’s The Renaissance World Tour 2002 was presented by GenTXT and Globe Handyphone, with Argon Animation, Radius, Joey 92.3, NU107, YS Online and Iskul.org

Even if it rained, thousands of people poured into the NBC Tent last Saturday to make Big Fish, MTV Philippines, Smart Communications and Bench’s party — the Godskitchen Global Dance Gathering — a huge success.

The third instalment of the World Super Club Series 2002 — the brainchild of Big Fish, MTV and Smart — Godskitchen proved that the dance music scene is still very much alive and happening.

Known worldwide as a big player in the club scene with superior DJ lineups and extravagant productions, the club brand Godskitchen did not disappoint those who lined up around the block for their party fix. With sets that have become more and more slick, Big Fish resident DJ TC warmed up everyone to fever pitch with his usual brand of pumping dance music.

By the time UK DJ Darren Pearce came on, people were screaming their heads off with excitement. What Pearce then dished out can only be called as "dance music with dynamic attitude" you just had to dance! And dance everybody did until 6 a.m. bathed in hypnotic laser lights and special mist machines to stay cool with the Godskitchen dancers.

To those who still haven’t had enough, watch out for the Cream Annual Halloween Ball at the NBC Tent on Oct. 31, this time headlined by mega-star UK DJ Seb Fontaine.

The Godskitchen Global Dance gathering was presented by Smart Communications, Bench, MTV Philippines and Big Fish. It was also supported by Tower Records and Music One.
