E-mail on the go @ the Hub

It’s raining, you’re stuck in your car, the traffic is really bad and worse, a flood is starting to rise right in your vehicle. "This can’t be happening," you tell yourself, "there’s a whole lot of work I have to finish, if not, I’m dead meat."

But if you had a Bluetooth phone and a Palm M125, M505 or the top of the line M515, you would sit easy and perhaps even welcome the traffic build-up since it gives you time to catch with up work — or friends.

"All over the world more and more people are connected through e-mail. The Palm 515 is one of the best gadgets to have," says Christopher Cheng, manager of GlobeSolutions technical and wireless applications. "It’s not just about having a Personal Digital Assistant, but rather it’s about being able to stay connected when you need to be."

"This is what we are offering at the Hub: A bundle package of a Bluetooth phone and a Palm 515," adds Charlene Panutat, marketing specialist. "There are three phones which are Bluetooth capable. These are the Nokia 8910, Ericsson T68 and T68i."

The bundle package prices are P19,900 for the Palm 515 and P6,500 for the Bluetooth card, that is, if you get a post- paid line with an Ericsson T68 or a Nokia 8910. Or you could get the Palm 515 for P21,890 and the Bluetooth card for P7,150 if you decide that you don’t want a post-paid line.

But what makes connecting through the use of Bluetooth great is there is no need for wires. Matter of fact, as Christopher showed us just how a connection can be made even if your phone remains in your pocket all the time. And, if you have a Bluetooth headset, you could answer calls without having to take the phone out of your bag or pocket. (Hmm, now if only the same could be done for texting.)

At the Hub, the promo is called Experience Mobile E-mail. "What we would like people who are interested in this package to do is to experience it for themselves at the Hub. I am sure that they will not be disappointed with what they will experience," says Charlene.

After all, the Hub promises that with the use of the Palm 515 and a Bluetooth phone, connectivity will be faster and access to e-mail and any other critical information that you might need easier if you are on the go. There is remote Internet access that is hassle-free. Seamless connectivity through Globe’s GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) system. We were told that connecting to the Internet through GPRS in Globe is still free so that’s another plus for now.

If you think about it really well, getting stuck — no matter where — in the car, at the mall, in the gym — never has been so much fun and loaded with opportunity. that is if you are properly gadgeted. Why? You might never even have to go to the office again.
