The watch to watch

- From the Philippine Star’s YS -
It’s time for a bit of TechnoMarine history. Fall 2001 saw the evolution of the TechnoMarine lifestyle brand into two divisions: TechnoMarine and TechnoSport. Laced with diamonds and other precious stones, the TechnoMarine line consists of high-end timepieces in luxurious designs for the more upscale consumer. On the other hand, the TechnoSport watches are designed for a younger, edgier consumer featuring trendy styles and fashion-forward designs. In fact, TechnoSport watches can be seen these days on the wrists of the hip dance club set in Europe and now, Manila. Here’s the proof.

The city’s young night things packed 780range to celebrate "A Mark of Evolution," the TechnoSport party on May 17. Drinks flowed as guests were treated to a show directed by Rem Zamora. The concept, Rem explains, is a play on the sports angle of the line and matches the event’s message with its target audience more effectively. Instead of a conventional fashion show, dancers interpreted six sports taken from pages of the TechnoSport 2002 catalogue, which were cleverly printed on dropdown acetate banners. The evening hit fever pitch when MTV VJ Anna Shier announced the winners of three TechnoSport watches. NBK resident DJs Manolet Dario, Jed Dario and Robert Villaluz of 780range then stepped up the plate to serve grooves for the more-than-happy crowd. Also spotted that evening were scenesters Amanda Griffin, Paolo Araneta, Ria Yujuico, Martin Gallaga, Duane and Mandy Santos, Gina Mok, Ana Sicat, Charly Atienza, Butch San Agustin, Nicole Acuña, NBK’s Teddy and Janine Dario, Dingdong Dantes, Bubut Andres, FTV’s Cyrus Rapinan, MTV’s Anne Matoto, Sigrid Villamil and Mumph Ruiz, Inq7’s Paolo Prieto, F3 Racing’s Jaypee Tuason, Angela la O’, Gooby Yulo, Anna Martha Moreno, Richie Santos, Tanya Moreno, Quad de la Paz, Joey Carpo, Tina Montinola and Raj Moreno, among others.
