I spoke with my more musically inclined friends about how impressed I was with the song and how I wanted to learn about the band. Through feedback, I found out about how "honest" and "true" the band is. They ‘were’ and ‘are’ themselves and would not sell out or give in to demands of critics and pop culture. And how they show, through the years, their being honest with an "I-don’t-give-a-flying-fook-what-people-think-or-say-so-fook-them" attitude. They started around 1992 by hitching a ride to Glasgow, England, going straight into a pub, and telling the manager that they would not leave until they were allowed to play. That same night, they were discovered and whisked away by Allan McGee of Creation Records to create and release their first album, "Definitely Maybe" to be followed by "What’s the Story, (Morning Glory)" which remains their greatest selling album to date.
They became especially notorious for continuously fighting and quitting and getting back together only to fight again. The said violence was instigated by the two main figures namely Noel and Liam Gallagher. Their "artistic differences" led them to loathe each other.
The year 2000 brought some new faces to Oasis, but the same problems still existed. After yet another big fight, Noel got fed up and left for Ibiza, leaving Liam and the others to handle things on their own. In an interview, Liam brushes off the fight and claims nothing was going to happen to Oasis as a band. It was just two brothers fighting. Noel, on the other hand, had other things to say. He claimed things were not the same, that the band did not mean quite the same thing anymore. He felt that Liam had to accept that Noel also had a life out of the band. The conflict was resolved afterwards. Time has passed since then and their live album became a hit.
All in all, they have evolved, and we can look forward to their new selves, still as true but twice as good. The ultimate telltale sign however would be "Heathen Chemistry", the album due out in July.
