NBK and Smart present Fat Boy Slim's Big Beat Boutique

The Big Beat Boutique (also known as The Boutique) is one of the UK's foremost club nights. Based in Brighton, England and closely connected with Skint Records and hosted by British artist and DJ Fat Boy Slim (Norman Cook), the night brings the finest breakbeat talents from around the world. One of whom is James Lavelle.

James Lavelle is the founder of Mo Wax Records, the label responsible for DJ Shadow's debut album Entroducing, voted best dance album of all time by Muzik Magazine. He is also well known by his alter ego "UNKLE", famous for the incredible Psyence Fiction album which featured such talents as The Verve's Richard Ashcroft, Thom Yorke of Radiohead, Badly Drawn Boy, Ian Bown of The Stone Roses and DJ Shadow. James has also worked on projects with the massive Japanese clothing label, Bathing Ape, and it's founder, Nigo. He's also worked with graffiti artist godfather, Futura 2000. Most recently, James has released a mix CD for the UK's finest club, Fabric. He holds a monthly residency there and the CD represents a selection of the sound he plays.

The album has received a huge amount of critical acclaim. James will be joined by Boutique resident DJ Touche, the man behind the Wiseguys. This will be Big Beat Boutique's first visit to the Philippines and are currently on an Asian Tour. DJ Touche is now the one-man show that makes up the Wiseguys. Formerly a duo, they split up after recording Executive Suite in 1996. He continued producing the hip-hop driven big beat sound under the Wiseguys moniker, coming up with 1998's The Antidote which spawned the smash singles Ooh La La and Start The Commotion, making Touche hugely popular in no time at all.

Outside of the Wiseguys, Touche's DJ career has been in progress, playing regularly at the Wall of Sound nights, London's world famous club Fabric and at The Big Beat Boutique in Brighton.

This dance event will be held at seveneightorange, 7840 Makati Avenue Makati City Thursday, 9 May 2002. The show also features NBK resident Roman Mojica.
