Hiphop bounces back
March 20, 2002 | 12:00am
Hiphop has never been hotter with Jag "Bounce," held recently at Cinema 6, Glorietta, Ayala Center, Makati. Featured were the five elements of hiphop  DJs, MCs, breakdancers, graffiti and its most colorful and controversial form, style and fashion.
The party started with the country’s top DJs Coki, Sir Scratch, Kimosave and MOD spinning the latest hiphop tunes along with MCs Caliph8, Krush, Dash and H-Town. Classic twists and flares were perfectly executed by break-boys Battle Crew and K.I.R as well as cool graffiti artworks from Supreme and Arvin. The real bomb hit the mall when underground US-based hiphop crew Zion I provided the crowd with their musical assault and Jag Jeans latest collection called Jag "Thug" unleashed its fashion assault.
Playing hosts were siblings Angeline Fiechter and Jackie Share with George and Mimi Siy of Jag Jeans, alongside their savvy marketing team led by Veng Taningco. Team Jag was in full force with Jeng Martinez, Lorna Noche, Vince Dizon and Treb Monteras III.
Movie stars, models and musicians gathered to take a peek at the all-new Jag Thug line including hiphop sistah Chill with Wally Chamsay and Roselyn Reyes of Sony Records, Ricky Ilacad and Anne Poblador of Warner Music and hip fashion director Robbie Carmona. MTV veejay Sarah Meier shone with Bong Paderna, Anne Matoto and Rod Nepomuceno, all of MTV Pilipinas. Fashion media’s glamour girls also sparkled, including Myrza Sison, Mia Fausto, Ria Francisco, Ianne Sison, Karen Velasquez, Essie Romero, Jasmine Marina, Iya Guingona, Bianca Salonga, Aubrey Pengson, and Joyce Fernandez. Also spotted were Angelique Villaraza of L’Oreal Philippines with Joel Ong of Milkwear and Jing Monis of Propaganda.
The movie industry was represented by teen stars Paolo Contis, Baron Geisler and John Prats, ace director Chito Roño with critically-acclaimed actor Jhong Hilario of the Streetboys. Model hunks Dean Hinkley, Luke Muchlin and Kenji Marquez partied on with rock bands Greyhoundz and Imago plus hiphop groups Madd Poets and Salbakuta.
