Not that this is a bad performance by any means, not at all. Crowe is stirring. His leading lady, Jennifer Connelly (Requiem for a Dream) is stirring. Director Ron Howard is stirring, too.
Heck, they're all so stirring the audience might as well have been a vodka martini.
