While I was reading some really old magazines, digging up years of garbage from my closets, I stumbled upon a statement Imelda Marcos once gave Steve Psinakis on December 1980. She apparently said, "I understand my people better than anyone. I study them all the time and even conduct experiments."
What kind of experiments? I asked myself, suddenly feeling my neck for bumps, my chest for lumps, and my unflushed stool for, well, signs of contamination. Could the Filipina lotions sold in Belgium be made from real Filipinas? Could the Filipino cookies sold in Spain be made from real Filipinos? Could the Banana Republic Filipino Club in the United Arab Emirates actually cater to Filipinos?
