And You Thought the ‘80s Were Over

Giordano’s Simply Preppy collection is bringing back the ‘80s. From striped designs to pastel colors, rugby shirts to webbing belts, everything brings about a whiff of funky trend while still maintaining today’s simplified tone. Shifting from last collection’s solid prints, this recent series brings back more choices in the latest wave of stretch tops and bottoms.
Giordano also incorporates more stripes in its designs. The return of the rugby shirt, reminiscent of the era’s popular collegiate shirts, ushers a more modern, clean and active approach with the same sporty and mass appeal. For guys, instead of the old baggy and regular fit, the latest design has a slimmer cut and three-fourth sleeves in place of the regular cut sleeves. The rugby shirt’s feminine version is figure-fit to create an attractive, shapely contour.
Jeans also take on a more daring side with boot cut and low-rise designs. These sexy, hip-hugging fits can be perfectly matched with the cotton or stretch webbing belts that come in colorful multi-striped designs.
"We incorporated the ‘80s look with more emphasis on styling detail," says Grace Suarez, Giordano Philippines’ product development specialist.
