Pinoy jins deliver in international meet
MANILA, Philippines – A team of Filipino taekwondo jins has put the Philippines on the spotlight in the recently concluded 2012 International Taekwondo Festival held at Industry City, California.
Members of the Baguio-based Philippine taekwondo delegation hauled in 25 gold medals, four silver medals and 13 bronze medals in the competition May 26-27.
The team did the feat despite encountering problem along the way, something that is not uncommon in Philippine sports.
“From all our difficulties in acquiring our US Visas and from much agony in raising funds, our athletes poured out all their strength to win in each fight,” said Head Coach Melvin Morte.
Despite the challenges they faced, the athletes persevered and pulled off incredible performances in the international meet.
“We wish to share our story and victory to be able to inspire each Filipino youth to excel in every endeavor they pursue.” said Morte.
