Katy Perry ends California Dreams Tour in Manila
After almost a year of touring across the globe for her California Dreams Tour, American pop star Katy Perry ended her concert tour with a show-stopping performance at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds on January 22.
“I saved the best for last,” Perry previously told the STAR, and indeed she has saved the best for an estimated audience of 25,000.
Despite making the audience wait for over two hours due to security issues, as later confirmed by Perry, the pop star left thousands of concert-goers in awe as she performs her hit singles “Teenage Dream,” “I Kissed A Girl,” “Firework,” and “California Gurls.”
Perry, who recently announced her divorce with comedian Russell Brand, did not show any sign of sadness as she performs very energetically onstage. In fact, Perry asked members of the male audience to strip off their shirts if they wanted to come up onstage with her. Perry chose well-built Ivan Dorschner, a local television starlet, whom she shared a kiss with onstage.
The wait and the aching feet due to hours of standing were definitely worth it as the sight of Perry at the first foreign concert gig of the year was awesome enough to relieve the stress and pain. As the concert-goers ushered in the new lunar year, they rocked along to Perry’s chart-topping hits; with some bursting into tears as Perry performed “The One that Got Away.”
