MANILA, Philippines — To drumbeat its room renovations, Crowne Plaza Manila invited members of the media to take part in a whodunit game "Murder in the Hotel," while experiencing the reasons why discerning business travelers, leisure seekers, as well as families and friends opt to stay therein.

There are 63 suites in its 262 room inventory. And their entry level rooms boast of a 40 sq-meter size; the largest in the Ortigas area. Their one-bedroom suite, which we occupied, aims to offer both relaxation and productivity.

Plus, with the hotel having an easy egress/ingress to Robinsons Galleria at the third and fourth floors, the hotel is ideal as a work and play destination. From leisure amenities to food stops, one's stay - whether for business or pleasure - could become a memorable one.

Crowne Plaza Manila is a member of the IHG Group, with a management portfolio that includes five-star hotels, all-inclusive resorts, kid-friendly as well as pet-friendly spaces.

IHG members can enjoy the amenities of the Club Lounge. This is where we met the other members of our group, prior to playing the guessing game. The object of the game was to name the culprit in the shortest time possible.

Perched on the 19th floor, the lounge is a private enclave reflecting the vibrancy of Filipino local heritage. The lounge is adorned with rich fabrics, elegant furnishing, and a fascinating collection of artworks. It also incorporates the latest technology so guests can stay connected and relaxed in this well-appointed retreat. Complimentary high-speed Internet connection is available throughout one's stay, in whatever room category they wish to stay in.

Guests enjoy complimentary bites, including a Continental breakfast buffet spread, delectable afternoon tea, and evening canapés and cocktails. But guests may opt to partake of a smorgasbord breakfast featuring seven interactive food stations to choose from - Western, Japanese, Seafood, Tandoori, Pizza Oven, and Dessert Bar, with an a la carte menu readily available - at the Seven Corners Restaurant on the third floor.

To support the sustainability drive of IHG and the local government, in-room amenities such as dental kits are available upon request at the front desk.
