Traveling to Palawan? Samantha Bernardo gives tips

MANILA, Philippines — With local government units (LGUs) of favorite travel destinations across the archipelago opening up, eager local travelers are busy planning for their next hideaway to visit.

For those who want to visit the beautiful islands of Palawan, Miss Grand International 2020 first runner-up Samantha Bernardo has a few important tips to share so your departure would be smooth and hassle-free.

"As part of the IATF's protocol on safety, travelers must undergo the required swab testing (PCR) at least two days prior to the departure date. Make sure that you tested negative to the swabbing. Upon reaching Palawan, you may be required to do a quarantine stay in your hotel. But, rest assured, you'll only be cooped up for a shorter period of time; as against the previous 14-day confinement. After compliance, you are now ready to explore the islands.

"The province of Palawan offers a lot of places to visit like El Nido and Coron. You may also want to visit the World Wonder that's the Underground River in Puerto Princesa City. There are also private islands where you can visit through an earlier booking. With Wi-Fi facilities in these world-class resorts, you can carry some of the necessary workload you need to dispense with. It's just like working from home, but with the beach just a few feet away," invited the Palaweña beauty.

After visiting El Nido or Coron, you may still want to check out Lagen Island. In any of these destinations, you could choose from a lot of activities to while your time. For those who have their open water licenses, you could go scuba diving. Or, if you prefer to be on shallower waters, you could always go snorkelling.

Kayaking around the islands is also a fun way of exploring. You may also join a spelunking tour to check out the cave systems. Adventure seekers go rock climbing or parasailing, while others look for sand breaks and go surfing. Young travelers usually enjoy jet skiing or riding the banana boat.

Professional divers could charter a trip to Tubbataha. Honeymooners could take a special trip to the paradisiacal confines of Amanpulo. There are also adventure trails within the city such as ATV rides over rugged terrain, or a forest trek to enjoy Palawan 's flora and fauna.

If you're an environmentalist, you could volunteer to help rehabilitate the province's watershed by planting mangrove saplings in any of its protected areas. In fact, tourists are encouraged to do so.

But whichever site or locale you wish to visit, or whatever activity you may choose to do, just make sure you've done your part in staying healthy - for your protection and the welfare of other travelers.
