Airport discipline campaign launched
MANILA, Philippines — The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) launched last week a discipline campaign called #DisipliNAIA that aims to restore good manners and right conduct and respect for others among passengers and airport workers.
MIAA general manager Ed Monreal said #DisipliNAIA aims to encourage people to become good airport citizens and to raise awareness about good manners and right conduct among all airport users – from MIAA employees and third party partners to passengers, transport services and even well-wishers.
Monreal added that from simple things like following the rule of yellow lines, proper queueing and following airport security protocols to picking up one’s trash and taking back one’s bag so that someone else can take the seat, #DisipliNAIA aims to correct many issues and problems airport users are dissatisfied with in the airport.
Monreal said #DisipliNAIA is a campaign for a return to Filipino positive values, especially respect for other people and mindfulness of one’s actions at all times.
“We are going back to basics – basic in a sense that we should do what is right, we should do it right, even when nobody is watching, even without people telling us what to do," Monreal said.
Data showed that from January to June 2019, NAIA registered a total of over 60,000 international flights and 76,000 domestic flights, equivalent to 12.7 million international flight passengers and 11.6 domestic flight passengers.
Monreal said #DisipliNAIA is composed of internal and external campaigns, with excellence workshops among thousands of its employees, partners and stakeholders.
Monreal encouraged airport employees and officials to follow regulations and be the examples and leaders for this #DisipliNAIA campaign.
Posters, videos and billboards posted at all airport terminals remind people that they are in #DisipliNAIA zone.
Monreal hopes to inspire their partners. “We are one family in NAIA. That should be the mindset if we want to succeed in this endeavor. If not now, then when? If not us, then who else? #NowNa!” Monreal added.
