Feasting with strawberries this March
MANILA, Philippines — Looking for a place to spend the weekend? How about heading to La Trinidad, Benguet to celebrate what's left of the Strawberry Festival?
Panaspulan Strawberry Festival, commonly known as the La Trinidad Strawberry Festival is an event which puts the spotlight on the sweet strawberries of the valley. Launched only last year, it aims to promote the location as a top strawberry supplier in the country and advance the support and sales of the product by holding month-long activities featuring the versatility of the fruit.
This year's festival which will be celebrated until March 30, carries the theme “A More colorful agro eco-tourism."
If you are planning to go up North to witness the vivacious event, here is a list of some of the activities:
March 7 to 28 - Art and photo lane (with coloring, hand painting, and solar painting activities)
March 15 - Job fair
March 16 - Strawberry cake baking and pastries competition
March 17 - Dog show
March 18 - The search for the biggest and sweetest strawberry, flower arrangement contest, Mr. and Ms. La Trinidad pre-pageant
March 19 - Procession in honor of St. Joseph, street dancing, mini float competition, and drum and lyre competition, barangay night
March 20 - 2nd valley of colors circuit tour
March 22 - The La Trinidad Got Talent, strawberry speed fest
March 21 to 25 - The 1st La Trinidad small-medium-micro enterprise convention
March 27 - Dart wars
March 28 - Mass wedding and renewal of vows, coronation night of Mr. and Ms. La Trinidad
March 29 - Search for the cleanest and greenest barangays and schools, culminating and awarding program.
