MANILA, Philippines - The season of Lent calls upon Catholics to pause, reflect on the passion of Christ and pray.
Those who want to try something new this year could join a tour and contemplate on the 14 Stations of the Cross with family and friends in colonial-era churches that are rich in heritage, history and architecture.
On March 28 (Saturday before Palm Sunday) and on April 1 (Holy Wednesday). tour participants will travel to the province of Bataan and visit the churches in Hermosa; Orani, where the miraculous image of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary is enshrined; Samal; Abucay; Balanga; Pilar, with its belfry uniquely located on top of the church’s main facade; and Orion.
On April 2 (Holy Thursday), church stops will be in Pampanga – San Luis, with its three-tower façade, a rarity in the country; Candaba; Arayat; Magalang, Mabalacat, Angeles with its beautiful transept, and Porac.
