MANILA, Philippines - Tourists and the faithful alike lit up Visayas last January with two back-to-back festivals dedicated to the Sto. Niño. Cebu’s Sinulog and Iloilo’s Dinagyang are month-long fiestas composed of parades, events and concerts that celebrate the life, culture and religious heritage of the region. Rooted in the stories that commemorate how Christianity first spread through the Philippine archipelago, both festivals are testaments to the strong faith inherent in every Filipino. And through Sky Free View, Skycable and Destiny Cable subscribers were able to relive history and join the celebrations in the comfort of their homes.
Last Jan.18 subscribers were treated to the live coverage of Sinulog’s Grand Parade. The festivities were bigger than ever, celebrating the Sinulog Grand Parade’s 35th year. Adding to the merrymaking, Skycable held an exclusive thanksgiving concert attended by over 500 Cebu subscribers and guests at the J Convention Hall in Mandaue City on Jan. 14, with performances from Richard Poon and Morisette Amon. An open concert was also held at the Fuente Osmena Circle, Cebu City on Jan. 16, featuring the G Force Stallions and Showtime’s Nicki Minaj Kalokalike.
The celebrations in Iloilo was held on Jan. 24 starting with the Kasadyahan parade and culminating in the much-awaited Grand Parade on Jan. 25. Live coverage to both events were also made accessible to all SKYcable and Destiny Cable subscribers. Prior to these colorful parades, an exclusive thanksgiving concert featuring Erik Santos and Morisette Amon was held for loyal Iloilo subscribers and special guests on Jan. 22 at the Hotel del Rio in Iloilo City.
