EDSA Shangri-La celebrates Swiss Week
MANILA, Philippines - Edsa Shangri-La, Manila, in partnership with the embassy of Switzerland in Manila, proudly present Swiss Week in the Philippines, showcasing the uniqueness and diversity of Swiss culture.
Dine at Edsa Shangri-La, Manila’s HEAT interactive dining restaurant until Nov. 23 and witness two of Manila’s esteemed Swiss chefs prepare a smorgasbord of Swiss indulgences: Thomas Wenger, former executive chef of Mandarin Oriental Manila and Makati Shangri-La, and Martin Kaspar, chef and owner of L’Entrecôte restaurant. Time-honored recipes will be on offer, along with the mouthwatering raclette experience, front and center. Live yodeling performances by talented Swiss misses, direct from Switzerland, are in the program from Nov. 18 to 23. Lunch and dinner rates start at P1,790 net.
During Swiss Week in the Philippines, Lucerne will showcase Jaeger-LeCoultre ladies’ watches at Edsa Shangri-La, Manila’s Lobby Level, while guests are regaled with live demonstrations by a master watchmaker.
On Nov. 19, premium wines from Switzerland courtesy of Werdenberg, Inc. will be featured alongside masterpieces by National Artist Arturo Luz during the hotel’s monthly Art of Wine event. A live yodeling performance is also in the offing on this special evening. A four-course meal by Chef Robert Cauchi at Paparazzi is available at P1,500 net, inclusive of Swiss wines for the tasting and hearty canapés that will be served at The Gallery during the Art of Wine cocktail.
Other Swiss Week activities include performances by Swiss-born jazz artist Eliane Amherd in various jazz clubs and venues in Manila. There will also be a Swiss Week Musical Experience to be held at Rizal Park on Nov. 22, featuring three musical acts fronted by Swiss groups: Eliane Amherd, the Yodel Ladies and Raoul and the Wild Tortillas.
Swiss Week in the Philippines is also made possible through the efforts of the Swiss Cultural Fund-Philippines, Presence Suisse, SWISS International Air lines, Lucerne, Santi’s Delicatessen, Swiss Tourism Board and the Swiss Club.
