Marco Polo Plaza Cebu named Hotel of the Year
MANILA, Philippines - Marco Polo Plaza Cebu was recently named Hotel of the Year, an accolade given to Marco Polo Hotels in the Asia-Pacific region.
With the recognition, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu is now considered the best Marco Polo hotel in the region. Marco Polo Hotels president Eric Waldburger handed the award to Marco Polo Hotels Philippines area general manager and former Marco Polo Plaza Cebu general manager Hans Hauri during the 2014 General Managers Conference in Hong Kong.
The award was turned over to Cathay International Resources Corporation chairman Alfred Ty during the victory party held at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu.
As Hotel of the Year, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu exemplified excellence in guest service, operational standards, associate management, and financial results. Truth be told, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu enjoyed the highest ratings among Marco Polo hotels in the following categories: overall arrival experience, 86 percent; overall quality of accommodation, 82 percent; overall staff experience, 86 percent; overall breakfast experience, 83 percent; overall dining experience, 84 percent; and overall staying experience, 87 percent.
Ty said, “Over 400 men and women working in this hotel, led by Hans Hauri and his management team, helped us win this award. The physical structure alone is not enough to make this happen. The heart and soul of the hotel is its people.”
He recalled that eight years had already passed since Cathay International Resources Corporation and Federal Land took over the hotel, which he described as a “beautiful site and classic structure.”
“Investments were poured in to make it world-class, a hotel that will make Cebu proud to have,” he remarked. “We brought in with us the architectural team that will study the expansion of the hotel’s ballroom for us to capture more memories for all our guests.”
Ty added that they value the opportunity to serve their guests. “For our guests to select Marco Polo for their family member’s birthday parties, wedding occasions, golden wedding anniversaries, debut functions, and baptisms, we can only guess that we are doing something right for them.”
