‘Purchase with Purpose’ with COMO and MasterCard

MANILA, Philippines - Guests at COMO Hotels and Resorts’  12 luxury properties across Asia, Europe and the Caribbean can make a lasting difference to local communities by using a MasterCard card to settle their bills.

Every MasterCard transaction between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2014 means $25 from MasterCard’s ‘Purchase with Purpose’ program will be donated to a non-profit organization or school within each destination – and guests pay nothing extra.

This is the fifth consecutive year of the global partnership between MasterCard and COMO Hotels and Resorts. To date, this initiative has raised over $160,000 for over 2,700 beneficiaries, supporting programs such as hospitality training for high school students and underserved women in Bangkok, the Maldives and the Turks and Caicos, financial support to students and entrepreneurs in Bali and Bhutan, and training for women in London.

Beneficiaries for this year’s COMO-MasterCard ‘Purchase with Purpose’ include: Teens Unite, London; Goodwill Group Foundation, Bangkok; Feeding South Florida, Miami; Maafushi and Guraidhoo Secondary School, The Maldives; Guraidhoo Island Hospitality School, The Maldives; Raymond Gardiner High School, Turks and Caicos; Panyanukul School, Phuket; Loden Foundation, Bhutan; Peduli Sesama Philanthropic Work, Bali; Yayasan Kemanusiaan Ibu Pertiwi, Bali; Beautiful People, Singapore.

A key component of MasterCard’s social responsibility and citizenship efforts across the region is MasterCard Purchase with Purpose. Based on the concept of transactional philanthropy, it is at the heart of a drive by MasterCard to encourage responsible spending while, at the same time, making a difference in someone else’s life.
